Born in Biella on January 31, 2006, Giovanni Melina is a promising young Italian cellist. He began studying the cello at the age of six, training initially under the guidance of Maestro Alessandro Copia.

Over the years, his talent has been consistently recognized on the competition circuit. His notable achievements include first prize at the “A. Salieri” International Competition for Young Musicians in Legnago in 2018, absolute first prize at the “Esperia” Competition in Albese con Cassano in 2020, and first prize at the International Competition for Young Musicians of the City of Treviso in 2021. Most recently, in 2025, he distinguished himself by winning the absolute first prize at the 29th edition of the “Città di Giussano” Competition.

Always seeking new inspiration to enrich his artistic journey, Giovanni has participated in advanced masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians, including Maximilian Hornung, Enrico Bronzi, Enrico Dindo, Robert Cohen, Oliver Wille, and Thomas Hoppe.

He is currently in his third year of the Academic Triennium at the “G. Cantelli” Conservatory in Novara, studying in the class of Maestro Andrea Scacchi. Concurrently, he continues to refine his studies under the invaluable guidance of Maestro Amedeo Cicchese.
