Jimin Jang is a South Korean violist recognized for her warm tone, refined technique, and compelling musical voice.

She has received international recognition as a semifinalist at the Max Rostal Competition and as a prizewinner at the Oskar Nedbal Viola Competition, where she was awarded the Pirastro Prize for an Outstanding Young Talent. She was also selected as a Musethica Artist, as well as a Kumho Prodigy and Kumho Young Artist.

Jimin has performed widely across Europe, the United States, and Asia, appearing in major musical centers including Berlin, Hamburg, London, Amsterdam, Prague, Linz, Vienna, Hong Kong, and Seoul.

Alongside her activities as a soloist and chamber musician, she regularly performs as a guest and guest co-principal with leading ensembles such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Le Concert Olympique, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She also served as principal violist of the Seiji Ozawa Opera Project. Jimin is currently a member of the Karajan-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker.

She has participated in numerous prestigious festivals and academies, working with distinguished artists including Tabea Zimmermann, Amihai Grosz, Nils Mönkemeyer, Kolja Blacher, and Timothy Ridout. Her appearances include the Prussia Cove Chamber Music Seminar, Villars Music Academy, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, and the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy.

A recipient of scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Ottilie-Selbach-Redslob-Stiftung, and the Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, she is currently pursuing her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Florian Peelman, following her education at the Korea National University of Arts under Soon Wha Oh, Hanna Lee, and Joseph Lim.

As a laureate of the Deutschen Musikinstrumentenfonds, Jimin performs on a 1740 Paolo Antonio Testore viola (Milan), generously on loan from the Cultural Circle of German Business within the BDI.
