Flutist

Flavio Serafini is an internationally acclaimed flutist whose repertoire spans from the Baroque era to contemporary music. Celebrated for his dynamic solo and orchestral career across Europe, he serves as the Artistic Director of the Anxur Music Festival since 2025.

Initiated into music at a young age by Ugo Scipione, Serafini graduated with the highest honors from the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome under the guidance of Deborah Kruzansky and Franz Albanese. His dedication to his craft led him to specialize at some of Europe’s most prestigious institutions. In Italy, he completed the Alta Formazione course with Andrea Oliva at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the Alto Perfezionamento course with Davide Formisano at the Accademia Lorenzo Perosi. He later graduated brilliantly from the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, also under Formisano. In 2019, he moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas, eventually earning a Master’s degree in Music Interpretation from the Haute École de Musique in Geneva under Jacques Zoon. Furthermore, in 2023, he received a Diploma of Merit from the Accademia Chigiana of Siena in the class of Patrick Gallois.

Following his international debut in Germany, where he performed W.A. Mozart’s Flute Concerto K. 313 accompanied by the Voith-Orchester Heidenheim, Serafini launched a vibrant solo career. A major highlight includes performing as a soloist at the Italian Chamber of Deputies in a concert broadcast live on Rai-TV. A laureate of major international competitions, including the Severino Gazzelloni, E. Krakamp, and Manhattan Carnegie Hall competitions, he continually garners public and critical acclaim. He has performed in elite concert halls such as the KKL in Lucerne, Musikverein in Vienna, Tonhalle in Zurich, Teatro dell’Opera and Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Wilhelma Theater and Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Louis de Geer Konsert & Kongress in Norrköping, and the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva. He is also a highly sought-after artist at prominent festivals, appearing at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Ravello Festival, Festival Musicale delle Nazioni, Tropea Musica, Onde Musicali sul Lago d’Iseo, and the Malibran Academy Festival, among numerous other cultural associations and foundations across Italy.

Through rigorous competitions and auditions, Serafini has secured positions and performed with premier international ensembles. These include the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Norrköping Symfoniorkester, Orchestre Mozart Genève, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Kammerphilharmonie Mannheim, and the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim. He has collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Antonio Pappano, Tugan Sokhiev, Charles Dutoit, Michael Sanderling, Roberto Abbado, Fabio Biondi, and Nicola Piovani. Alongside his demanding concert schedule, Serafini is deeply committed to music education and recently traveled to Spain to conduct a masterclass at the Conservatory of Music in Vila-seca, Catalonia.
