The Grand Opening Concert outlines a musical journey across three distinct European eras and sensibilities, featuring South Korean violist Jimin Jang and Italian flutist Flavio Serafini, alongside the Peace Orchestra Project conducted by Federico Gad Crema.

The program opens with Max Bruch’s Romance in F major op. 85, a composition that stands out for its deep lyricism. In this work, the soloist and the orchestra weave a continuous, fluid, and highly intense melodic dialogue.

The performance continues with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Flute Concerto in D minor (Wq 22), a work that represents a perfect example of the Sturm und Drang style: the strong dynamism, the technical virtuosity required of the soloist, and the sudden shifts in register historically mark the transition from Baroque rigor to the new expressiveness of Viennese Classicism.

To conclude the evening, the orchestra performs a selection from Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite op. 40 (Prelude, Air, Rigaudon). Originally written to celebrate the playwright Ludvig Holberg, the suite reworks ancient 18th-century French dance forms, brilliantly filtering them through the unique harmonic and melodic sensitivity of the Norwegian composer.
