An exceptional event celebrating the convergence of two expressive worlds, uniting great music with the written word in close collaboration with the literary festival Contemporanea. On the stage of the Auditorium of Palazzo Gromo Losa in Biella, Swiss cellist Lena Angelina von Almen presents an intense solo recital, where the strings of the instrument become a pure narrative voice. Enhancing this interdisciplinary dialogue, each musical piece will be interspersed with surprise literary texts curated by Irene Finiguerra.

The program unfolds around the cornerstone of cello literature. The dialogue opens with the architectural perfection of Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring his Suite No. 3 BWV 1009, the absolute symbol of timeless formal balance. Responding to this first voice is Gaspar Cassadó’s 20th-century homage: his Suite for Cello Solo weaves Iberian influences and vibrant theatrical momentum into a language of strong rhapsodic character.

The exploration of the 20th century continues by delving into the psychological depths of the human soul. Ernst Bloch’s Suite No. 3 B.97 offers an intimate and highly compelling spiritual meditation, which contrasts with the lines of Paul Hindemith’s Sonata op.25 n.3. The latter, a work of sharp modernity and absolute structural rigor, pushes the instrument to the limits of its technical capabilities, completing a sonic mosaic of extraordinary evocative power.
